We have an immediate need for a Senior Quality Test and Automation engineer to work with our Utah-based Systems engineering team to develop and enhance our embedded Linux and Android products.

The position will require working with a team of talented engineers to make quality consumer electronics products.  Tasks will include generating and executing test procedures on various cutting edge and downright fun hardware and software platforms. The candidate will be expected to write and execute test cases for both hardware and system-level software, report defects, and validate fixes, expand automation and reporting, and have fun doing it.  The ideal candidate will have several years of test automation experience, eat and sleep Linux , and loves getting into the guts of the hardware, software, firmware, and networking leaving no stone unturned.   • Work alongside excellent senior Linux and Android systems engineers to develop awesome home automation products
  • Create test plans, test cases and write test automation for new products and features
  • Integrate automated tests for new features into a continuous integration environment and keep it running. Document stuff! New tools, tips and tricks, research findings, etc. Then teach others
  • Actively participate in bug scrubs and sprint planning
  • Coordinate with engineers to understand new features; their behaviors, and the effects on the systems and help hold each other accountable
  • Determine test requirements and any test hooks that engineers need to provide and contribute to them
  • Develop internal tools to help you and your fellow engineers in product development, bug triage, and replication
  • Collaborate, innovate, and deliver patterns and practices to improve product quality throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Impress your friends with the cool home automation systems you help build


  • S. in Computer Science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or, related field
  • 5+ years of software development
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating system. Eat and sleep Linux. Love Linux. Crave Linux. And Android. Android is cool, too
  • Good understanding of networking from soup to nuts. Yeah, you will need to know more than what PoE stands for
  • Love to work in an Agile/Scrum environment and deliver commitments on-time with quality
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash. It is totally OK to show off here a bit. We love that sort of thing
  • Solid git
  • Experience with Jenkins is a plus, unless you have a butler or chauffeur named Jenkins in which case, do you want to work for the mere satisfaction?
  • Experience with Android OS'the low-level stuff is big plus
  • Demonstrated ability to dig into issues and write up defects that are clear and detailed. Those bugs where people say, "I got this" and that get fixed, not the ones where people ask, "what the heck are you talking about?"
