The Senior Audio Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing next generation Control4 Audio products as well as supporting existing product lines. He/She will define requirements, detail specifications, develop audio hardware with system level/holistic approach to optimize system efficiency, performance, and cost, from input to output.  Position requires teamwork with existing audio team and designing to high performance standards.


  • Create, control and release design documents (schematic, layout, gerber, test procedure, bill of material, etc.)
  • Tune and optimize the acoustic performance of reference designs and demo platforms
  • Perform competitive product analysis and benchmarking
  • Support product derivative initiatives that expand existing product portfolios
  • Work and collaborate with a broad cross-functional team to ensure new product designs are developed with proper attention to detail, manufacturability, supply chain consideration
  • Must be able to identify, articulate and mitigating technical risk early in the development process
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and drive OEM/ODM partners to meet quality, cost and feature requirements


  • Technical Skills: Strong background in analog architecture and digital signal processing. Proven track record of releasing quality audio products. Experience with high fidelity analog & digital audio circuit design, operational amplifiers, high dynamic range audio data converter and audio band applications. Experience with audio power amplifier design with emphasis on high-efficiency techniques such as Class-D amplifiers. Understanding of switch-mode power conversion for use in DC/DC power supplies. Familiarity with high frequency magnetic design utilized within switching power converters. Knowledge of audio industry trends. Experience releasing new products through phase gate review process
  • Tool proficiency: Should be highly proficient using Altium CAD tool, Audio Precision test equipment, circuit simulation tools, schematic capture, numerical computing environments and integrated development environments. Skilled using laboratory test & measurement equipment such as mixed signal oscilloscopes and power analyzers
  • Compliance and Regulatory:  Experience designing and releasing products that meet US and international compliance and safety regulations. Thorough understanding of conducted and radiated emissions and safety standards governing audio products
  • Sustaining Engineering: Work with manufacturing engineering to support testing and tuning activities in warehouse and at remote contract manufacture locations. Root cause RMA issues. Co-ordinate with speaker products
  • Soft skills: Strong work ethics, self-motivated with ability to perform design & development tasks with minimal oversight. Great team player with strong verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to teach and be taught by team members and learn new ways of creating great audio products. Keeping customer satisfaction and higher quality standards as key driving force


  • Minimum Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred)
  • 10+ years' experience designing analog and digital professional and/or consumer audio products
  • Knowledge of processor architecture, digital circuit design and various communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, etc
