ITEMIZED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Work in an exciting environment with a cross-functional team to design, build and test complex (yet, crazy fun) embedded products based on Linux or Android operating systems
  • Work within the agile software development model using Scrum
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, attend backlog grooming and planning sessions, help drill down into acceptance criteria, tasks, and estimation, contribute to sprint retrospectives, and at times, take the lead
  • Work closely with product management to identify, estimate, and then deliver products and features
  • Write and execute unit tests, system tests, and facilitate test automation
  • Experience the thrill when that dead hunk of useless PC board comes up and does something exciting for the first and 100th
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and technical documentation
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, teamwork and pushing beyond barriers

AWESOME SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Seasoned professional developer with C++ development experience and 4-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience bringing up Embedded Linux or AOSP systems from a home-grown or vendor supplied BSP or Yocto recipe
  • Understand the power and obligations of open source software and proper due diligence to properly leverage open source
  • Solid skills using Linux debugging and troubleshooting tools including gdb
  • Proven experience developing, testing, and debugging kernel modules
  • Familiarity with developing and modifying the AOSP a huge plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of socket communications and peripheral device support, wired and wireless networking, including wi-fi, and Bluetooth standards
  • Wizardry with git, branching, and source code management
  • Architecting, developing, and use of libraries for use in multiple projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot and understand existing Linux and Android code or samples from other languages and products to apply into new products
  • Self-starter who can work independently, as well as in teams that span multiple functions and/or departments
  • Ability to mentor and express concepts among cross functional teams clearly and succinctly
  • Passion for technologies related to audio, video, USB, HDMI and whatever else comes up as the hot tech du jour
  • Loves digging into product requirements and fleshing out technical requirements, and then committing and delivering
  • Ability to adhere to critical project timelines in an exciting environment
  • Foundational skillset to understand and learn / contribute to other technology platforms and languages
  • Thinks getting up to turn a light on or off is lame

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a 4-year degree in computer Science; or computer Engineering
  • 5+ years experience in Linux driver/application level development using C/C++; Object-Oriented Design skills and abilities
  • Fastidious about unit testing and proving the quality of one's work
  • Experience as a key member of a development team participating in the complete product development life-cycle of successfully launched consumer and business software products
  • Strong analytical, communication (verbal and written) and team skills in small agile development groups
  • Passion to continually improve one's craft as well as that of the team
