POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Control4 is looking for a passionate, talented, and motivated technical trainer to create and present the very best in technical education material and experiences. No, seriously. We want you to really love technology, love teaching it, and love being on a team that eats, drinks, and sleeps this stuff. You are required to have a sense of humor and strong work ethic.

As a technical trainer, you will use energy and passion to help home automation technicians continually increase their proficiency by conducting in-class certification courses, creating online training content, and presenting at regional and industry special events. Trainers are natural evangelists for Control4 and the smart home industry. They are passionate technologists who excel at quickly apprehending new technical concepts, and love sharing what they know with others.


  • Train and motivate smart home technicians on the Control4 platform, system design, and programming, as well as the use of specific Control4 and partner products.
  • Work closely with the Training Team's curriculum development specialists to continually develop a more effective training program.
  • Deliver professionally produced online content, including micro-learnings, product overviews, and specialized certifications using instructional design principles.
  • Develop or adapt custom technical materials for regional and industry events.
  • Deliver compelling demonstrations and in-depth technical how-to's at regional and industry events.
  • Maintain rigorous expertise with Control4 and industry products and technologies.
  • Participate in the Control4 beta program and activity submit bugs and product enhancements suggestions.
  • Up to 20% travel during specific time periods


Our ideal candidate is passionate about technology, lifestyles and how training can help people build their careers on expertise in Home Automation. Important attributes and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Instructional Design plus a minimum of 3 years of technical training.
  • Experience and comfort at presenting technical concepts and advocating products.
  • Excellent technical skill with computers (Windows or Mac), including the use of PowerPoint, media editing (audio & video).
  • Strong writing skills: grammar, mechanics and expository composition.
  • Skill with visual design, including how to combine imagery, diagrams and text to create professional-grade materials.
  • Willingness to install and work with beta hardware and software in your home.
  • Passion for technology, and the acumen to inspire others with that passion.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years conducting professional technical certification courses, or similar.
  • Excellent skills as a dynamic presentation and technical trainer.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly.
  • An innate sense of urgency and excellence in producing results.
