Control4 is looking for a passionate, talented, and motivated technical trainer/instructional designer. No, seriously. We want you to really love technology, love teaching it, love creating instructional materials and love being on a team that eats, drinks, and sleeps this stuff. You are required to have a sense of humor and strong work ethic.

There are two main responsibilities with this position 50% of which is teaching technicians in a classroom how to install and configure home automation hardware and software. The other 50% is using instructional design principles to develop online microlearnings that show how to solve a single technical problem.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about technology, lifestyles and how training can help people build their careers and expertise in Home Automation. Frankly, we don't care so much that you know anything about home automation or that you know the ins and outs of instructional design. What we do care about is that you can show us how you have a passion for technology and teaching. Hopefully you have some way to showcase this to us. Here are guideline qualifications of what we're looking for:

  • Create, and present instructor-led training that displays best-in-class design, presentation, and student engagement skills.
  • Instructional Design experience is a plus. We need you to be able to think logically think through and systematically present effective training. Both standing in front of a classroom and through developing media that teaches specific concepts.
  • Experience with online and media development software (e.g Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Screenflow, etc). This would also include working with graphics, video and audio to produce 2 to 3 minute microlearnings.
  • Ability to self-manage projects through to completion and meet deadlines for delivery.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, sharing work assignments when necessary
  • Aptitude for quickly learning technology (hardware and software), and translate new learnings into training materials and content.
  • Willingness to install and work with beta hardware and software in your home.
  • Passion for technology, and the acumen to inspire others with that passion.
  • Potential for 0-10% travel during specific time periods.
