An RMA technician is responsible for processing, verifying, Return to Vendors (RTV) and repairing as required incoming Return Material Authorizations (RMA's) from the field.  You will be responsible for ensuring the RMA process is followed for all units received from our dealers/distributors. This includes, receipt of product into the ERP and data systems (SAP, Salesforce), evaluating, testing RMA symptoms, and proper disposition of the unit both systematically and physically. You will be responsible for reading, analyzing, and repair of product which fall into the "repair" category. Repairs could consist of software re-flashing, soldering, replacement of main boards, and power supply swaps or repairs. This position also supports the engineering and quality teams when requested for root cause analysis. You will be responsible for the maintenance and overall condition of tools and test equipment at your work station and within the overall fulfillment department (this includes helping support the onsite functional test stations). There will be times you will be needed to assist with the system transactions, preparations, and shipment of RTV's back to our suppliers. This position will require overtime from time to time as business needs dictate especially at crucial month end and quarter end periods.

 

ITEMIZED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, test, and repair customer returned product down to the component level.
  • Read schematic diagrams and follow test procedures.
  • Perform solder repairs on through-hole and surface mount components.
  • Test, repair and evaluation of home automation and entertainment wireless, audio and Wi-Fi systems.
  • Understand operational requirements of the unit and be able to identify and correct problems or inconsistencies.
  • Work with a diverse team base including fulfillment operators, technicians, engineers and product owners.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including internal teammates, along with end dealers.
  • Support other departments within the Fulfillment Center and quality engineering as needed.
  • Other tasks requested by your supervisor or leadership.


NEEDED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to determine failure of home automation and entertainment hardware that incorporates the use of Linux, XML software and Ethernet, Wi-Fi and ZigBee networking.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team unit.
  • Ability to communicate defect and root cause information to engineering, customers/dealers, tech support and suppliers.
  • Organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
  • IPC 610 Soldering Certification (helpful but not required)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics, Certificate of Completion of Technical School or equivalent experience in related discipline.
  • Must be versatile and be able to adapt to new situations and applications.
  • Computer and basic network skills required including Windows, Excel, and Word.
