Design circuit boards for Control4 electronics, including consumer products such as remote controls, system controllers with high speed digital circuits, and RF products such as lighting controls and sensors.


Support mechanical design team with assigned tasks (product labels, silkscreen drawings, assembly documentation, etc.)



  • Create and manage all PCB related documentation including schematics, fabrication Drawings and BOMs
  • Participate in engineering design reviews
  • Collaborate with product development team members, by reviewing the design requirements and optimizing component placement, ensure that PCBs are able to be compliant in all areas of DFX, and mechanical design
  • Create and maintain component libraries, including component footprints to ensure DFX compliance
  • Keep abreast of manufacturing requirements and methodologies to ensure defect-free fabrication, assembly and testing of PC Boards
  • Work with the Electrical Engineering to derive placement solutions, power plane solutions, route-ability analysis, and stack-up recommendations. Layout, route and post-process the board, meeting all design guidelines and constraints including High Speed signal, EMC, and audio
  • Keep current with the latest features of PCB layout tools in order to effectively design PCBs
  • Interface with Quality and Supply Chain to ensure design for test and manufacturing (DFX)
  • Create/modify product ID labels
  • Create/modify mechanical silkscreen drawings
  • Create/modify mechanical assembly documentation



  • Proficiency with hardware and software design tools such as:
    • Altium
    • Cadence Allegro
    • Orcad
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical enclosure design, SolidWorks preferred
  • Solid knowledge of artwork creation, Adobe Illustrator preferred
  • Knowledge of Subversion (SVN) and revision controlled configuration management preferred
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting abilities to resolve problems and identify solutions for new designs and in-market products
  • 5 Years minimum experience with PCB design including digital, analog, RF, design for EMI etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and layout requirements
  • Must be eager to learn, open to suggestions, conscientious of work and deadlines, work effectively under pressure and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment



  • Minimum 2 year Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, related engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years PCB layout experience
  • Demonstrate direct interaction with Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing Team and PCB vendors.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organizational and planning skills



  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Adobe Illustrator experience is a plus
  • Valor or other industrialization tool experience is a plus
  • Arena Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system experience is a plus
  • Experience in the design of multi-layer complex PCBs with BGAs, Buried and Blind vias is a plus
