Control4, the industry leader in smart home automation, is expanding!  We have an immediate need for a Senior QA engineer to work with our Utah-based Core & Systems engineering team to develop and enhance our embedded Linux and Android products.

The position will require working with a team of engineers to produce quality consumer electronics products.  Tasks will include generating and executing test procedures on various complex hardware and software platforms. The candidate will be expected to write and execute test cases, report defects, and validate fixes.  These tasks will be performed against both hardware, software, and firmware. The ideal candidate will have several years of testing experience, good Linux experience, is comfortable working with hardware, firmware, and software.  Should have a good working knowledge of IP networking concepts.

  • Work alongside excellent senior Linux engineers to develop awesome home automation products.
  • Create test plans and test cases for new products and features.
  • Write automated tests for new features to be deployed in a continuous integration environment.
  • Document stuff! New tools, tips and tricks, research findings, etc.
  • Participate in bugs scrubs and sprint planning.
  • Coordinate with engineers to understand new features; their behaviors, and the effects on the systems.
  • Determine test requirements and any test hooks that engineers need to provide.
  • Develop internal tools to help you and your fellow engineers in product development, bug triage, and replication.
  • Write new and extend existing test automation software
  • Collaborate to innovate and deliver patterns and practices to improve product quality throughout the entire product lifecycle.




  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment and deliver commitments on-time with quality
  • Proficiency in Linux use and administration
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash
  • Proficiency with source code management tools including git
  • Experience with Jenkins
  • Experience with Android OS
  • Test automation experience
  • Solid communication written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to dig into issues and write up defects that are clear and detailed.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other engineers to drive product quality and improve development and testing practices.




  • B.S. in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years software engineering
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS and command line
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
